Themed boat for a unique holiday experience? Yes, we can do it!
When we were commissioned by the owner to create a unique and eye-catching design for her Dufour 56 yacht, the Kosa Art Group team took inspiration from Kabuki, a traditional form of Japanese theatre.
We drew inspiration from the elaborate colours and patterns used in Kabuki to create a fun and authentic interior that continues on the exterior of the boat.
EXTERIOR
We covered the hull of the boat with black and red foil that resembles strokes of ink – it also depicts the movement of water gliding past the boat.
For the genoa, we ordered a custom burgundy-painted sail – eye-catching and memorable. For the gennaker we added Kabuki branding that looks absolutely incredible when sailing and catching the wind.
Other custom decorations include a custom made stern name, KABUKI writing on the lazy bag, black steering wheel, specially selected materials for all exterior cushions, black and red ropes, lantern lights and more.
INTERIOR
The boat’s interior depicts the traditional Japanese ryokan style with a lot of natural wood, black leather cushions and framed art prints on the textile, creating an instant impression that you’ve travelled to Japan. The interior features a lot of customised decisions such as a red fridge, themed cabins, burgundy bedsheets, original artwork and even toilet brush holders imported from Japan! It’s very cosy and comfortable – and feels a lot like home.
