The Great Pussy Wave | Tokyo 2017

Project type

Art direction

We have created a Great Wave inspired by work of famous Japanese artist Hokusei. Our contemporary take on the artwork also has some reference to the Tsunami that happened in 2011 in Japan. Combining these two significant events we created an impressive art installation in the client’s hotel room. It was installed on the 56th floor in the center of Tokyo. Blue cat wave matches the blue landscapes in the window. It has a deep feeling of the wave entering the room through the window, frozen above the bed. Entirely made out of stuffed cat toys and cat pillows, some ordered in a factory based on drawings that we produced as preparation for the project. Some cats are made as mutants; with two heads or six legs, three tails… where can inspiration take you?
